Aliens: Colonial Marines to Come Out a Year after Alien vs. Predator?
According to an interview with Mike Hayes, Sega’s pure Aliens game might be dependant on the success of Alien Vs. Predator. This could mean that gamers could be wating up to a year for Gearbox’s title.
“What I would say is it’s unlikely that we’d launch anything within six months [after Aliens vs. Predator], but probably nine months, eight to 12 months possibly…we literally are looking at that at the moment and a lot of is going to depend, as well, on how successful AvP is at the box [retail]” Mike Hayes, Sega West COO.
In some ways this makes sense, we’ve seen so little about Marines…that I kind’ve wonder if there are issues in the development of the title. Or maybe conversely Sega has faith that technology powering the game will be solid well into next year. More development time can’t be a bad thing.
Furthermore, there is little to no point glutting the market with Aliens titles. If Rebellions’ Aliens VS. Predator leaves gamers wanting more this decision could be a smart one. Aliens VS. Predator looking incredibly solid and the third Aliens game is still on the way.
