Kotaku issued a developer comment about a screenshot of Aliens VS. Predator that seems too gruesome, too gory, and brutal (NSFW).

All I can think of in response is: MORTAL KOMBAT!

I mean, context is as important as content and I think Aliens and its gut-bursting legacy allows for a significant element of campy gore as a part of the context and tone of the game.

I think that the head rip animation in Aliens VS. Predator is a gamer “bragging rights” moment – and furthermore the game looks solid enough to bring respectability back to franchise as opposed to taking away from it.

That said, I haven’t played the game but the honesty will flow forth when I get a copy in my hands.
