PS3 Woes…
It has been a very slow SEGA day so I decided to hit my local gaming store to check out the boxing day deals. I came home with Demon’s Souls and my PS3 decides it no longer wants to “see” Blu-ray discs.
I wasn’t sure if this was a firmware problem but I updated to 3.15 and the problem was still occurring and now the PS3 was giving me the message: “Your PS3 did not shut down correctly.” Argh!
I have one of those now “rare” 60 Gb consoles. I was not a happy camper and I swapped my 60 Gb drive back into the system and it worked. So, my guess is that firmware was the major issue.
So, using a SD card, I manually swapped out my saves, formatted the 320 GB drive that I installed began the long process of downloading all my DLC content again (it’s been 3 hours…and counting).
If you’d like to know how to swap out your PS3 drive let me know and I could do a video tutorial.

This happen to my PS3 one time, not a hardware issue actually. This is what I did. I entered the recovery menu:

Try “Restore to Default Settings” if that does not work, do “Restore File System”
Worked for me. Now you don’t have to ‘back up’ since it does not erase data.
Yeah, I did all those first. None of it worked.
Damn, that sucks. I might buy a new HDD soon, just waiting for a good solution to back up my save files. You know, the protected ones.
The PS3 is up and running now…but I have to unlock all the SF4 characters again.
