Matchmaking Issues plague the Demo Experience of AVP on the PS3 and the PC
Last night I downloaded Rebellion’s AVP demo to the PS3 to try out the title on the competing home console to compare it my impressions of demo on the Xbox 360. I waited and waited and waited to get into match however it never happened.
Terrible matchmaking has been a problem for a load of people from the PC/PS3 camps and Rebellion has issued the following statement and apology:
“Unprecedented demand for Aliens vs. Predator following the release of the cross-platform demo yesterday morning brought to light matchmaking issues on the PC platform resulting in players having to wait to join games, or even not find games at all…We’re really sorry that this issue tainted a day in which we saw many people get hands on with AvP for the first time and we’re hugely gratified by the positive feedback to the game.”
They are currently examining the issue on the PS3:
“While this issue did not affect the Xbox 360, we are, with SEGA’s assistance investigating reports of a similar nature on the PlayStation 3 and working flat out on a solution.”
Thank goodness that I initially chose the Xbox 360 to do my demo impressions because the controller was marginally closer to me at the time (and charged). Trust me the game is pretty fun once you get into a match.
