Loading ...PS3 is the Lead Console for Development of Vanquish, Focus on Single Player Campaign

After the North American Bayonetta crisis of 2009-2010 on PS3, the crack development team at Platinum Games have decided to use Sony’s beast as lead platform for the title.
They are following the example of developer Criterion of the Burnout franchise who have proved that porting from the PS3 infrastructure to the Xbox 360 infrastructure results in better titles for both systems as opposed to the opposite way around. A PC version is still under consideration and nothing has been finalized.
That said, Platinum Games will be also be handling the port of the Xbox 360 version. Shinji Mikami stated:
“We’re leading development on PS3…Obviously each console has its own unique requirements and limitations, but we feel if we can create a good enough presentation on PS3, we’ll be off to a good start.”
In terms of multiplayer, Shinji Mikami told Eurogamer the title won’t feature multiplayer but rather focus on the single player game: “the main reason we’re keeping Vanquish as a single-player experience — to deliver the level of impact, the level of detail and the visuals we want to offer.”
Furthermore, Mikami stated:
“Vanquish is very intense, full of action. There are just so many things going on…When you take that into a multiplayer environment, then you have to realistically consider shaving a lot of things off and putting them into your multiplayer environment. It kind of boils down to whether you have the multiplayer but you don’t have that much impact, and end up being like everyone else. Or even below par.”
I agree with Mikami, I would much rather have a single player experience of high caliber than watered title with multiplayer.
