SegaShiro: Pure SEGA HARDCORE!

The details on Vanquish have been slim but this week has featured an explosion of screens and comments on game play but still so much remains unknown. However, SEGA has released some details on the setting of the title:

_{“VANQUISH is set in the year 2111. Russia and the US are vying for the ownership of the world’s remaining energy resources and the US has constructed a series of space stations in order to harness energy from the sun. The Russians capture one of the space stations and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, hoping to force the US into a total and unconditional surrender. In response the US tasks its armed forces with recapturing the space stations before the Russians can annihilate more American cities.”}

Damn, even 101 years from now we can’t solve our energy crisis even though we’ve harnessed the power of the freaking sun. Oh well, the SEGA blogs also stated that the title will arrive in Winter 2010 (could this mean the West will receive the title at the same time as Japan?).
