I’m four hours into the Yakuza 3 and in reference to the story some of the promotions coming out of Japan for Yakuza 4 make little sense in context of the earlier title – granted I’m only a small the way through the main story arc.

For example, so far in Yakuza 3, I’ve been dealing with the foibles of the little children at the Sunshine Orphanage and teaching them wholesome life lessons.

Now, the latest Yakuza promotion involves iPhone application maker Bijin-Tokei who have created the “Beautiful Woman Clock” where the time is updated with pictures of…you guessed it…pretty women. Not-so-wholesome.

What would Haruka think?

According to Kotaku the clock application costs $2.99 and will feature hostesses from the SEGA title:

“A trio of ladies (Shizuka Saitoh, Noa Mizutani and Maya Mori) who appear as hostesses in game will also be appearing in Bijin-Tokei, holding a sign that not only says the time, but also has “Ryu Ga Gotoku 4″, or Yakuza 4′s Japanese title, written on it.”

Between the wine, women, and violence in the Yakuza marketing campaign and the press coverage it is easy to forget that the Dragon of Dojima has the heart of a Teddy Bear.
