SEGA SATURN Titles Are Being Considered For Re-Release on PSN & XBLA

Damn...sweet 32 bit love in PSN and XBLA!

Damn...sweet 32 bit love in PSN and XBLA!

Impress Watch had a particular awesome interview with Yosuke Okunari who is the Producer of the digital Dreamcast lineup for SEGA. Now, Okunari stated a lot of things that would interest a core SEGA fan including that SEGA is not actively ignoring Saturn but rather would like to hear what Saturn titles you would love to see ported to the digital line-up:

“It’s not that we’re ignoring Saturn I think you can see this, considering that we ported Nights Into Dreams and other titles…What we announced this time is a project where we will have consecutive releases of titles that were debuted on Dreamcast. Separate from this, we’re of course thinking about ports of Saturn games. It’s the same as how Sega Ages and Virtual Console were separate existences. It’s not that we have no intention of porting Saturn titles, so please share your requests.”

How about the Panzer Dragoon titles, Guardian Heroes,  Burning Rangers, Dragon Force and NiGHTS?! Die Hard Arcade might be nice too!

The term port is correct because the DC titles coming to XBLA and PSN are not emulated and the teams have been working from source code and are bringing improvements such as 720p and 60 frames-per-second to titles like Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure DX.

The ports are being handled by SEGA Shanghai who worked on the ports of titles to the PS2 however original staff and teams are allowed to provide guidance to the port team. The teams are looking to introduce full online functionality and the second wave of DC titles is already in the pipeline and are “representative of the Dreamcast.”

There is currently no timed schedule in place as the team wishes to keep the quality of the titles but would like to see them come out at faster pace than the Ps2 SEGA AGES 2500 line.
