Game Gear on 3DS! Shinobi and Sonic Triple Trouble Rated By the ESRB

I was pretty stoked about the prospect of playing Game Gear titles on the 3DS. I loved the old hardware but the LCD screen on the retro system doesn’t really do the games justice. Back in the day, I’d sit cross-legged in my friend’s basement playing Streets of Rage 2 and Mortal Kombat with the Gear plugged into the wall.

The Game Gear had a the power of the Master System and I hope SEGA truly exploits their IPs on Nintendo’s Virtual Console Service. I need some Panzer Dragoon Mini! In the meantime, Shinobi and Sonic Triple Trouble have been rated by the ESRB. Hopefully, we will see these games roll out soon and one can hope SEGA implements them well.

Any guesses on price point? Under $5 for sure, right?

Sonic Triple Trouble is a must-buy. I’m hoping for Sonics’ 1, 2 and Chaos too, but they would probably depend on the financial success of Triple Trouble.

I don’t see why they should hold anything back in terms of old IP. Let it all fly freely for downloading.

I think the games are supposed to be getting looked at to support 3D, so there is some extra effort involved…

  • DJ Fob Fresh says:

Really, I find that suspect…while I really do hope SEGA makes the effort to craft 3D supported versions. I refuse to be shocked if they are nothing but straight ports or emulations.
