Fast Striker Headed For the Dreamcast Via NGDev Team
Hooray! Another shooter is making its way to the Dreamcast – the little 128 Bit system that is seeing a massive resurgence as of late – probably because it still works in a wasteland of red ring Xbox 360s!
Fast Striker is a vertically scrolling shooter with a emphasis on points (classic arcade style). It also feature “largest” megabit count of any NEOGEO title.
The title is scheduled to land sometime this winter. Fast Striker is a NEOGEO vertical scrolling shooter that will feature some nice updates on Dreamcast such as VGA compatibility: Read the rest of this entry »
Red Spot Games Still Wants to Rock the Dreamcast – YEAH!
The guys at RedSpotGames are retro heroes and are looking to still publish titles on Dreamcast in 2011. According to Joystiq, Marketing and Sales Director Adrian Loudero stated:
“We have seen some stuff on the PC, and we [are] talking to to the companies to see if they will agree to release on the Dreamcast…We also have plans for 2011, maybe a new release, but this is really all I can say right now…I think the Dreamcast is still famous”
The team has expanded to Wiiware and Xbox Live to stay afloat but they still heart the DC (they only sell a few thousand units per release on DC).
I been playing a lot of Wind and Water and it is really endearing and it is also currently on sale for 30% off at the redspotgames store. I been trying to find a copy of Last Hope but it is nigh impossible. Can’t wait to see what the team brings out next!

XBLA and PSN HD remakes of Crazy Taxi Losing Classic Soundtrack?
Crazy Taxi will be coming to fans in 16×9 and in 720p for sure but the classic soundtrack featuring Bad Religion and Offspring is no longer are part of the package due to licensing issues.
According to IGN, due to various licensing issues the classic arcade soundtrack (hated by some, loved by others) is not making it in the jump to HD. The game will feature a smattering of punk tunes but no names have been dropped so far. Also, the game might lose some of the locales of the original like KFC and Pizza Hut:
“SEGA couldn’t pull off the licensing, so it replaced the classic “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!” of the Offspring’s “All I Want” with a random smattering of punk bands. It’s a crushing disappointment for sure (more so than the loss of the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut licenses) and may be a deal-breaker for some.”
Being a guy that likes punk rock who enjoyed the tunes in Crazy Taxi despite their repetitiveness this is a shame. However, gamers can always make a custom soundtrack and fix this issue themselves. Hopefully, doing so won’t cause any issues in the game. Hit the jump for a sample of the game from IGN: Read the rest of this entry »
