You know what sucks about modern gaming? Updates and installs. I used to think loading times sucked but the ever present pipeline of fixes and updates kills more of my modern gaming time than I would have ever thought.
Sometimes, I end up updating the game and just turning it off…because I’ve started to watch something on Netflix (Mushi-shi) or because I’ve crawled into bed to read. Also, while I’m ranting here – Cliffy B was on to something…they should make games understand that if you haven’t played it in months – it needs to gently bring you back into the experience. I say this because in Metro 2033 – I’m stuck in corner – in the dark – and I can’t remember how the hell to put on my gas mask.
I should just play more Saturn and Dreamcast! Speaking of the Saturn, the folks at the SEGA blogs have a mighty fine bio up on the Undead Hero Warrior from Guardian Heroes. He weighs a whopping 300 pounds despite not having blood, muscles, or fat!

Master System Version of R-Type Pulled from Virtual Console on September 30th
If you are a retro gamer that has been enjoying the Virtual Console service on the Wii – you may be interested to hear that the Master System version of Irem’s R-Type will be delisted at the end of the month.
It probably amounts to licensing issues as this strange and sudden type of delisting has hit SEGA before with Outrun HD when they lost the Ferrari license. If you’ve been putting off purchasing the game now is the time to grab it. Check out the SEGA Blogs for more information.

Not even Zelda on the 3DS was good enough to get a gold box but you better believe that Mario and Sonic will get loud yellow box art! Yup, the Olympic Games title art has been finalized!
The game has also been dated and SEGA has cited as saying this classy and unique box art is a “first for the series and for third party games publishers.”
The game lands…strangely…in North America first on November 15. Europe needs to wait 3 days to get their Wii fix on November 18. The 3DS version has been pushed back until early next year like most of the SEGA titles on the that system.
