PS2 and PC Phantasy Universe Servers Closing Down in March
Phantasy Star users who are still online on playing on the computer or who are using last generation’s home console hardware may want to think about migrating to the Xbox 360 to continue their online multiplayer gameplay experience.
As of March 31st of 2010, the PC and PS2 servers will be shutdown after a good three year run – the population on these servers are just too low. However, the MAG+ event is still scheduled for Jan. 29, 2010.
Single player will still be available for users and the last subscriptions payments for multiplayer will taken in January 29, 2010 and those players will play free until the end of March.
Xbox 360 version will continue receiving updates and new content. On the SEGA forums, Edward at SEGA stated:

I spent the better part of the last two months trying to track down a copy of SEGA Wow’s Nightshade title. It is hard to find! Strange enough I found a Japanese copy in my first day of searching but trying to find an English one proved very challenging.
Finally managed to grab a new copy and I’m excited to play both it and Shinobi for eventual review on this site.
Hopefully, SEGA is working on a Shinobi sequel with the Bayonetta engine…that would be awesome.

Buy Ticlid onlineSakura Wars is Hitting Shelves in March!
The official release date for the title has been solidified at March 23rd, 2010 for North America not in February as previously reported.
Furthermore, only the PS2 version will see the 2-Disc Special Edition for $39.99 (it features 2 discs with Japanese/English voice-acting) while Wii users will be locked into playing the title with only English voice acting for $29.99 (US).
I haven’t been too keen on the English voice-acting I’ve heard so far but I figure I’ll pick up whichever title I stumbled across first.

I find it a bit funny that the first Sakura Wars title I’ll get to play in English won’t even have the SEGA logo on the cover in North America. The only other title in the series I’ve actually played was a clone of Columns for the Saturn.
Hit the jump to see a bunch of screens of the Wii and PS2 RPG. The curious side of me is looking forward to this title. Read the rest of this entry »
