Sonic CD Launch Trailer [Updated]
It is kinda funny writing the words Launch Trailer for a game I played in 1996 (on the SEGA CD no less) but it is still way past cool.
What isn’t so cool is that I’m not sure if the game is actually landed on the networks yet.
[Update] SEGA has clarified the launch dates:
XBLA – December 14, 2011 (400 MSP)
PSN – December 14, 2011 in Europe, December 20, 2011 in North America ($5.00 / £3.59/ €4.49 / AUD$6.25)
iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) – December 14, 2011 ($4.99/ € 3.99/£2.99/AUD$5.49)
Android – Early 2012
Windows Phone – Early 2012
PC – date coming soon!

PSN in Europe is definitely more SEGA heavy than the US one and as such the last update brought with it a free Sonic CD theme. It is quite nice (maybe not as nice as the Generations ones) and you can’t complain about the price!
Give the theme a look with the video above.

Buy cheap Voveran SRSort-of-a-SEGA: Under Defeat HD Trailer
The full widescreen mode looks nice. However, at the current price point I am not to interested in picking this up when I have the original DC version.

The video features 3 minutes of gameplay footage. It looks mighty solid. I think we can put the Mindjack comments to rest. It looks much closer to Vanquish in style.

Buy ParlodelUnder Defeat Returns in February 2012
Not too much is known about the Xbox 360 and PS3 edition of Under Defeat HD but it will be released in February and Japan is getting a boxed edition for 5,600 yen (US$72).
I had assumed this would be released as PSN and XBLA fare in the West but now I’m not sure it is coming out over here at all. Good thing that PS3 is region free!

The game sends up the game industry, twitter, and often itself. I also loved all of the SEGA references in the first one.
Hopefully this PS3 exclusive can fix the battle and dungeon system of the first. Check out the trailer above as it does a good job of explaining itself.

Tons of new details have dropped for the upcoming SEGA epic – Yakuza 5. First of all, the game will continue from storyline of Yakuza 4 and not from Dead Souls (aka Of the End). Of course, the title will be a PS3 exclusive.
Kazuma Kiryu will return as series lead and the game world is said to be “massive” including five locations: Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Sapporo, and Nagoya. Nagoshi likened the game to be a skyscraper in size while early entries were mere houses.
The technology powering the action is said to vastly improved – using tricks and discoveries found in developing Binary Domain – transitions between between adventure mode, dialogue encounters, and the battles will be seamless. Loading times will be reduced across the adventure, there have been tweaks made to the camera system, and the quality character faces and animations will have been improved.
The game is still in an early phase of development and Masayoshi Yokoyama is now a producer. According to Andriasang.com, he previously “worked on such areas as script and scenario” for the franchise.

Compile’s strange JRPG about console goddesses is making a return to stores. NIS is reprinting the game without the extras and Gamestop will be selling them for approximately US$29.99.
The game’s limited first run has been selling out so the game is finding its fan base. The sequel is still incoming and is said to bring significant improvements to the combat system.
