Error of My Ways

Back in the day, kids my age had a “black and white” attitude to gaming; you either had a Sega Megadrive or a SNES. If you had a SNES – the Megadrive sucked. If you had a Megadrive – the SNES sucked. Such was this bitter competition, that we frequently assaulted our SNES-owning friends with verbal nastiness i.e. “your fat Italian plumber aint got nothin’ on our supersonic, spiny blue mammal.” Or “A supersonic hedgehog?! That doesn’t even make sense! Anyway, it’s a well known fact that all Italians can jump really high!” It goes on.
In reality, most people I knew couldn’t afford both consoles, which was usually the starting point for such instances. Unfortunately, this vicious cycle continued, and when it came to choosing between the Saturn, PlayStation and N64, my choice was obvious…

I’ve seen quite a few car mods in my trips around the world but nothing has ever come close to jaw-dropping awesomeness of the one pictured above. A fan of SEGA Rally on the Atari Age Forums recreated the classic Toyota racer from SEGA’s arcade game.
The folks over at jalopnik.com have a great write-up and a ton of pictures of the car: Read the rest of this entry »
Sonic Jam: Text Review

Imagine yourself, a young child, a fan of Sonic but never quite got all of the Mega Drive releases of Sonic. After the sheer amount of entertainment you have derived from your console you decide that buying the next Sega console the ‘Sega Saturn’ would be a relatively intelligent idea. Alongside your amazing Sega Saturn you have a game entitled “Sonic Jam”.
From a previous visit at your friends house you have seen the astonishing 3 dimensional capabilities, and conclude that Sonic, being amazing would be included in a game being 3-D. You also conclude that it’s probably the Saturn game “Sonic Jam” that includes such a brilliant offer! You being young and only slightly adorable hype up the occasion to the extent that it is rather ridiculous.
You then turn the Sega Saturn on with the Sonic Jam disc inserted, you are ready for the time of your life! Read the rest of this entry »
