This guy here is Scarabesque. Below, we have Sandworm. What is everyone thinking of the new Badniks? I think the designs are solid, but I’m waiting to see them in action.

We are all busy here at Shiro, which has limited the news posts recently. I’m going to do my best to sum up the last week, though!

As you see above, today is Hedgehog Day. It is also the 18th anniversary of the American release of Sonic 3, which sort of makes it Knuckles’ 18th birthday too. To celebrate the day, SEGA announced a date for both Summer of Sonic 2012 AND Sonic Boom 2012 (along with official logos). Summer of Sonic is July 7th in London, Sonic Boom will be held in San Diego, CA on Friday, July 13th (during San Diego Comic Con) at the House of Blues.

Today I’ve been stuck inside (on a freaking Saturday) doing more off hours work than should be legal. It has led me to the dark corners of my music past as I’ve been looking for tunes to groove with while slaying the “to-do” list.

It started with some Gin Blossoms (how have I not owned a album after all these years?) but it quickly spiraled into the truly dark recesses of my teen years and that is when I found Teenage Dirtbag remixed with the Genesis sound chip. How crazy cool and geeky is that?

I used to dig that song but I sold the CD because it was the only song worth listening to on it. I may just have to buy it on iTunes. If you aren’t old enough to remember the original…be warned it is annoyingly catchy and has appeared in Generation Kill.

This trailer shows off some of the interesting new control methods used in some of the mini-games. It looks pretty cool! It’s even out on my birthday. Who is buying me a present?

The last minute and 22 seconds of the video is dedicated to Miku and her new but classic costume. I gotta say I do dig the cell-shaded graphics for the vocaloids – I wonder if SEGA will go that route for the PSVita version. Read the rest of this entry »
